Valentino Khan returns to hip-hop roots in latest ‘Digest’ stream: Dancing Astronaut

Valentino Khan’s latest single, “Digest,” showcases the lyrical talents of young rappers Wifisfuneral and YBN Almighty Jay. The Four Loko Records track audibly departs from most of Khan’s Mad Decent offerings – a hip-hop beat rather than a hardstyle or electro dance cut. The stylistic side step, however, is a homecoming for the mustached beatsmith.

Khan actually started his career outside the confines of dance music, producing rap beats for artists such as TI, 2 Chainz and BoB. He then embraced his vocation as an electronic music producer after co-producing Major Lazer’s 2013 hit “Bubble Butt”. Khan explained,

“I have drawn on my roots as a hip-hop producer. I entered the studio with Wifi [and] Almighty Jay and they delivered a jackpot. Enjoy.”

Just because “Digest” occupies a different soundscape than “Deep Down Low” doesn’t mean it wouldn’t perform as well in a festival setting. In fact, the heated streams of Wifisfuneral and YBN Almighty Jay on Khan’s distorted piano ensure a high heart rate. Stream “Digest” below.
