Erik Link and DJ Smith will have additional roles this coming season on the Missouri coaching staff, the program announced on Wednesday.

The 2022 season will mark Link and Smith’s third with the Tigers.

Link will continue as special teams coordinator and also coach tight ends. Smith will continue to coach linebackers and will also act as a staffing coordinator.

“Coach Link brings valuable coaching experience to the attacking side of the ball,” Drinkwitz said. “Our group of tight adults is young and promising. I can’t wait to see the progress the group will make under Erik.

The Tigers return 5 tight ends for 2022 and added a tight end rookie in the recent class.

“I’m really excited to have the opportunity to expand my role and coach tight ends,” Link said. “I look forward to working with our attacking players and our coaches in this role and I look forward to being up and running.”

Missouri is ranked No. 12 in the 2022 rankings class, according to 247Sports.

“Our recruiting progress is generating positive momentum for our program, statewide and nationally, and we look forward to continuing with Coach Smith spearheading the effort,” Drinkwitz said. “DJ’s future is bright. This new role is the next step in her blossoming career.

Missouri will continue to focus on in-state talent.

“I am grateful and honored to have the opportunity to serve as our staff recruitment coordinator,” said Smith. “We are focused on keeping Missouri’s best players at home, in addition to our national recruiting. We want to build a roster that our fan base is happy to support and can compete for the SEC East title.
