My main focus has always been to legally earn my own money…Even as a child I was focused on getting paid. Corn, I didn’t want to follow the same path as all the drug dealers I met. I hung around them and learned from them, though. I learned about hustling, the work ethic, and the importance of building strong connections. Back then, I didn’t know I was learning the business skills that would help me today.

Masta, based in San Antonio via Cleveland, Ohio, has been in the business for as long as he can remember. Growing up in the city’s drug-infested neighborhoods, his ultimate goal was always to get his hands on the money. As Masta thinks back, he goes on to say:

“I took a liking to drug dealers not for being drug dealers, but for being cool and being business of mind. As well, I wasn’t trying to be like them. I have never sold drugs. They wouldn’t let me. In fact, they used to tell me that this wasn’t the life I wanted. They were like ‘I see you. You’re a cool cat, but I don’t want that for you.

In order to put money in his pocket, Masta raked the leaves, cut the grass and did all the odd jobs he could. As a result, those mediocre jobs funded the passion.

Masta Johnson Magic

Masta was teetering in the music industry when he wasn’t on a paper hunt. He would occasionally attend the workshop sessions of budding local artists, learning a little at a time. Eventually he came across a local artist who had a home studio. The new collaboration allowed Masta to perfect his craft. Masta would come and make beats and record songs.

At that time I knew I wanted to do something with music, I just didn’t know what I wanted to do.” Masta discloses.

In addition to the studio, the gentleman had a store. For this reason, Masta, who has always had an eye for fashion, designed t-shirts and sold them in the store.

That’s when I discovered branding and marketing…Masta says.

He continued to experiment with music and his clothing line over the years. But it wasn’t until his senior year of high school that he realized his true potential. Also, he wrote a poem for a classmate to perform at a school talent show, but when she didn’t like it, Masta turned it into a song, sang it himself and won first place.

Reinforced productions

After graduating from high school, he earned an associate’s degree in business administration. Over the years, he continued to soak up as much information as possible. In 2014, Masta founded Reinforced productions. Then in 2018, he officially incorporated the company with his brother Tripp.

Soon after, they were looking for the right artist to sponsor and promote the brand together. Now they don’t need to look any further. Since the release of Tripp’s single “Making A Way” in 2020, Bossed Up Promotions and Tripp’s music career have grown.

My goal is for the artist to be happy with the music they’re making and know they can come to me if they’re having trouble with their music career. I wish them success in their careers. And I’ll do whatever it takes to help them to succeed
