“I was barely 19 when I started this company called Kalikwest, which was initially a clothing line. But I had this quest to find talent and promote their work. So the company grew from a clothing line to a media group,” said Mannie Sadhra, who was born and raised in California but hails from Nawanshahr.

He says he has worked with many famous artists like Pitbull, Lil Jon, Akon and Punjabi stars Diljit Dosanjh, Jazzy B, Sukhshinder Shinda, Honey Singh, Sharry Mann, Gippy Grewal, Vinaypal Buttar and Neeru Bajwa.

He said he also recently launched new artists like Harnoor, Bob Randhawa and Indrr Bajwa, whose debut EP “Take One” is all over YouTube and has people buzzing. In addition, the new single, “Allah Ve”, sung by D Harp and directed by Mohit Sharma, which is also released by Kalikwest, is among the top Punjabi hits on playlists on Spotify and iTunes, he said. added.

Speaking to Jalandhar Tribune by phone, Mannie Sadhra said his life changed when his family decided to move to California in 1988. experience and grow with an optimistic intellect. But my love for Punjabi folk music and an exceptional taste for Western vibes forced me to change careers. After that, a new era in my life started, which I named ‘Cali Quest’,” he added.

He said that Punjabi MC and Jay Z came up with a new song “Beware of the Boys” in 2003 and his company Kalikwest with his team fused it with hip hop to create the first Bhangra-Hiphop mixtape. He further added that his success story includes an endless list of record companies like Jive Records, Virgin Records, Warner Brothers and many more.
