Alabama football DJ Dale became a Texas fan, Vince Young

Alabama defensive lineman Dj dale could have grown up in Birmingham. But he said he grew up being a fan of a different team.

“I actually wasn’t a fan – like, I wasn’t always a fan growing up,” Dale said of Crimson Tide. “I was – I started out as a Texas fan because I loved Vince Young and I was playing quarterback and stuff in Little League. So it was my team.

“But after he left, I became an Alabama fan,” Dale said. “But it’s a dream come true just watching the games with my brothers and uncles and imagining myself on the pitch one day. So I just try to enjoy every moment and not take it for granted. So sometimes you wake up and you really live your dreams and I’m grateful for that.

Now, with Alabama once again in the College Football Playoff, Dale has a chance to bring another national championship to his home state school. And he said he grew up playing big games.

I feel like it started just growing up, you know, growing up with the kids in school, it was all about competition, even in PE, just playing against each other, but playing against the best competition growing up, even from Little League, just prepared me for this situation and even continuing to college and high school, playing against some good guys and guys that I played against in college, ”said Dale. “Yeah, I’ve been playing big games for a while. “

With the Alabama hit streak, Dale was asked how he could not have taken the game for granted.

“I didn’t even think about it. That’s the way I am, honestly. I feel like over time you have a lot of ups and downs throughout life. So you have to be grateful for what you have and make the most of every opportunity you have. And that’s how I go about everything. “

Alabama has shown this by deciding to stay at the hotel, rather than going to enjoy the sites. And Dale was asked if the rigor of the past two years made him feel like he lacked the full experience of playing in the playoffs.

“I don’t feel like we are missing anything, but I feel like for us we have come here to play a soccer game and to win a soccer game,” said Dale. “So everything else, it really doesn’t matter to me. I guess that’s how the whole team feels, but I can’t really speak for everyone. But I did. not really feel like I’m missing anything or the Team is missing something because we came here on a mission and just to do it. And then I have to go back to Tuscaloosa. So that’s all that I need to know about it. really matters. “
